SITKA TRAVEL TIPS AND INFORMATION
Sitka is a small community and hotels/transportation can be limited in the busy summer months. If you will be spending some extra time in Sitka (highly recommended!) or just need a place for the night, we’d advise you to book early and have your land-based transportation lined up.
Airfare
Alaska Airlines - Alaska Airlines flies in to Sitka from Seattle, WA and Anchorage, AK year round.
Delta Airlines - Delta will be operating direct flights to Sitka from Seattle, WA between June and Septmber .
lodging
Airbnb - In our opinion, this the best option if you are staying for more than a single night. There are a lot of cool spots to stay and Sitkans are good people.
Longliner Lodge - Right on the water, walking distance to downtown, small private hotel
Aspen Hotel - Great location, no airport shuttle, clean, simple rooms
Westmark Hotel - Great location, airport shuttle!, dated but clean rooms
transportation
We are an Uberless community! At the moment we also have a limited number of cabs - if your in town lodging does not have a shuttle, we would highly recommend booking your airport transport a week in advance. Cabs can be hard to come by at the last minute.
Tidal Taxi LLC - (907) 623-2646
Tongrass Troll, Tours & Taxi - (907) 738-2458
Baranoff Taxi & Tours - (907) 738-4722
Martin’s Taxi & Tours - (907) 738-0619
Cummin’s Taxi & Tours - (907) 738-3079
Avis - Traditional car rental. Cars can be picked up and dropped off at the airport.
Turo - Rent a car from a local! Be aware, there are such things as the Sitka Junker….however even a junker will likely get you from one end of the road to the other.
restaurants/coffee shops
Here are a few of our favorite restaurants.
Beak - Awesome seafood, small portions, great brunch
Ludvigs Bistro - Sitka’s high end dining establishment. Great food, great atmosphere. We go here when we want to treat ourselves. Reservations required!
Channel Club - Steaks, burgers, seafood dishes. Dinner only. They offer a transport shuttle. Reservations recommended.
Mean Queen - Best drinks, good pizza, bar atmosphere. Breakfast is also great.
Campfire Kitchen - Best pizza in town. Located in the local brewery so its a good excuse to also have a beer
Wildflour Cafe & Bakery - You can have a healthy smoothy or freshly made croissant. Good for a light breakfast or lunch.
Backdoor Cafe - Best coffee in town. Small space - no Wifi. Daily lunch specials, be there by 11:45am for a lunch item as they tend to sell out.
Ludvigs Chowder Cart - Good sandwiches and chowder. Located at the Sitka Sound Science Center so you can watch some fish run up the raceway while you munch on a proscuitto sandwich.
